The end of this year’s season is approaching. We still got a couple weeks and the busy easter time to go, but apart from that, it’s basically over.
We’re still hoping to maybe get 1 or 2 powder days, since this winter’s snowfall’s way below average so far.
However, there’s not much reason to complain, we had our share this season as well and the couple times we went to Maloja (The Aela platter lift is the place to go on a powder day) were well worth it.
Thanks to a young local I had a fun day on Corvatsch hitting the pow on some massiv freeskis.
It’s been a good season workwise, since I got asked to work office hours as well. My salary in february was actually somewhat more than half of what I used to earn in engineering.
The goal over the last couple weeks was to get ourselves prepared for the nordic marathon which was scheduled to the 8th of march. We did our best, but often enough did we end up in the local bar. Having a good time but not making progress in our training.
Luckily one of the guys living in our accommodation organized a long distance training from Sils to Zuoz. We can therefore say, we didn’t start the marathon completely unprepared.
Looking back, I’m quite surprised we all made it, and most of us in quite a decent time. My goal was to get to the finish under 3 hours. I finally got there in 2:45. If you believe in general rumors the conditions were pretty slow as well.
I’ve met so many amazing people out there, colleagues, locals and clients as well this winter. It’s not New Zealand and never will be, but hey, it wasn’t that bad a season either.
